Da Vincenzo is owned and operated by Vincenzo & Maureen Incendiario. The restaurant is managed by Paolo Sebastiani & Michael Mchunu. Michele, Vincenzo’s son, arranges all the weddings and functions.

This team have worked together for over fifteen years, and together, they constantly strive to deliver true Italian cuisine with friendly service. With over eighty years combined experience in the hospitality industry, their achievements have culminated in a restaurant and function venue that delivers.


The Name
The name Da Vincenzo means “by” or “at” Vincenzo’s in Italian. Your food is made by Vincenzo and you share the ambience with your guests at Vincenzo’s.


The Food & Service
Vincenzo has been serving authentic Italian cuisine to Johannesburg for 30 years. The food is freshly prepared daily by Vincenzo’s own hand. Each dish passes his watchful eye to ensure the quality you have come to expect from Vincenzo’s kitchen.

Vincenzo’s recipes derive from his mother Maria who brought them over with the family from Napoli. These recipes, like those from that day, are based on quality fresh ingredients, which, combined with masterful care deliver a meal to be savoured.

Paolo and Michael have made a life’s work of delivering excellent service. Both have distinguished careers in well know restaurants. They aim to deliver their experience through the ambience of Da Vincenzo.

The Venue
Vincenzo’s son Michele is on hand to arrange any function you would like to host. From small birthday tables in the restaurant, to larger weddings in one of our dedicated venue’s.

Michele has planned over 300 weddings and thousands of successful parties. He is capable of delivering a successful function to compliment your celebration. From corporate to private, big or small, private room or just a table - all is possible.


The History
It started with a small pizzeria, Pizza Pazza, in the South of Johannesburg. From there it developed into a chain of restaurants in Alberton, Melville, Bruma and Gold Reef City. Eventually, after some years, Vincenzo wanted to consolidate and moved to Sunninghill. After a 5 year period he moved to Da Vincenzo’s current premises at Casa di Paglia (House of Straw) in Kyalami.

Da Vincenzo’s move to Casa di Paglia in 1997 was prompted by Vincenzo’s desire to give something unique to his loyal customers, not just on their plate but also through the atmosphere that only an Italian family restaurant in the country can produce. A restaurant and function venue under a thatched roof with an ambiance that will entice you to return for the experience and superb atmosphere. Da Vincenzo traded here for 13 successful years.

In the early hours of Sunday 6th September 2009, one day after our 12th Anniversary, Da Vincenzo’s Casa di Paglia was raised to the ground. A fire that was so extensive in nature that the entire building had to be re-built from foundation. The cause of the fire could not be determined due to the extensive nature of the damage. The fire lasted for over a week.

After this heart breaking period Vincenzo and his family decided to continue his legacy and proceeded to rebuild. The build took over a year and we began trading in October 2010 with little fanfare. Vincenzo decided to grow the business organically to allow us to regain our former status. After a year’s run in period, the restaurant is back to is former charming self. Albeit with a Tuscan style roof in place of thatch.
